The gerbera's are sat on a Victoria sponge cake however this version was without jam and with vanilla butter cream so I'm not sure if the WI would count it as a Victoria sponge cake.
I covered the top of the cake in white fondant which I then piped pearls with butter cream around the outside to finish the edges off.
The gerbera's are made out of hot pink fondant and finished with a yellow centre. I loved making these flowers because they look really pretty and weren't that difficult to make.
